Lesson #4. Take Lots of Pictures
I can't imagine why, but my Mother must have let me use the camera when I was about 8 and actually developed the pictures. There were pictures of my Barbies lined up with dazzelous hair, but nude. There were pictures of Cabbage Patch kids, my Wuzzle and ton of trolls...again, hair totally rad, but nude. One of my favorites is a picture of my desk that was obviously decorated by an 8 year old and was in my closet. I guess it's a kid thing to like things, like desks, in places that are cramped and unlikely. The pictures and things on my desk speak volumes about where I was at that time. I love these kinds of pictures.
One of my favorite things about looking at pictures is looking at the behind the scene stuff. It amazes me what memories flood back by looking at the drinking glasses on the table or the blanket on the back of the sofa. I love to look at old pictures from high school that were taken in my car. Haven't been in that car in 20 years, but the pictures brings you right there. Or an old childhood house or yard. We tend to remember things and people and vacations, but it always tickles me to see the everyday stuff.
So, go ahead. Take pictures of whatever floats your boat. If it's important to you at this moment, capture it. Someday, you may get a good burst of memories that make you smile.
We all take loads of pictures of babies. At special events. Special outings. Firsts. There are so many reasons to take them. Oh, the memories. And all those young adorable faces. Take pictures all the time. You should never be too busy to snap a picture.
